Alternatives to Commercial Tanning Lotions

November 30th, 2009

Tanning lotions aren’t always sold with labels that announce that a certain topical lotion can give you a tan when you use it. Sometimes, you have a tanning product that you’ve purchased long ago, but you don’t know that one of its uses is that of giving your skin tones a wonderful golden color that makes you appear healthier and happier. Everyone always tends to look healthier and happier when her or she has spent a considerable amount of time under the sun.

Check your travel bag, your drawer, your kitchen, or your medicine cabinet for one or two of the following items. Who knows? Maybe you don’t need to buy new tanning lotions or cellulite lotions for your next beach vacation or your next pool party.

Read the labels of some of the topical application products which you own. Look over the products which are homemade or which have come from a non-retail producer or manufacturer. Search for a product that contains a large percentage of citrus oil, lemon oil, or lime juice. These products can help you achieve a nice and even time, while protecting your skin from harmful UV light. Topical beauty products, which contain large quantities of aloe together with citrus, lemon, or lime juice, can be used as tanning lotions alternatives. Aloe will soothe skin that is tanning. Mostly, health and beauty products, which have been organically sourced, will have a common binding ingredient and this ingredient is coconut oil. Coconut oil has this natural function. It helps to make skin appear darker and golden, especially when you spend a leisurely time under the direct hit of the sun.

The statements above are about household alternatives to commercial tanning lotions. Though, there are some consumer products like sunscreen lotion, that can also act as alternatives. Most times, the skin tanning properties of a certain sunscreen lotion is included in its label such as for Hawaiian Tropical beauty products and Nivea skin products. These dual purpose sunscreens act as health and beauty helpers by providing high SPF levels of protection against the harmful rays of the sun and by giving healthy looking tan whenever you choose to use them.

One helpful reminder that you should keep in mind, is to prep up your skin before you apply your lotion. Once you’re able to prepare your skin by freeing it of dead skin cells and dirt, then it’s ready to absorb a tanning lotion, in an easier way.
